Niseko ski resort

NisekoNiseko ski resort is located about 50 km southwest of Otaru city, and is very popular for dry powder snow and wide slope.
We can see the beautiful Mount Yotei which is located 10 km east-southeast from here.

"Niseko" is the collective name of mountains, and originally is a word of Ainu language.
They are "Niseko-An'nupuri" (1,308 m), "Niseko-Iwaonupuri" (1,116 m), "Niseko-Nitonupuri" (1,080 m), and "Niseko-Chisenupuri" (1,135 m), then they are grouped in this area.

There are four ski resorts from east to south of the mountains.
They are "Niseko Grand HIRAFU", "Niseko Annupuri", "Niseko Higashiyama" and "Hanazono", and these are connected one another.

In recent years, this ski resort has become popular among Westerner, so especially skiers from Australia are increasing.

To visit here, it is convenient to use express bus.
JR Hakodate Line runs to the east of this area. But only local train is operated and the service is not frequent.
