Tono Municipal Museum is located 550 meters south of JR Toono station.

Yanagita Kunio (1875-1962) was a Japanese folklore scholar, and he wrote a book named "Toono stories" that he compiled folktales and legends in Toono.
That became the base of Japanese ethnology.

In this museum, the life of the people and the culture of Toono are introduced based on Yanagita's "Toono stories".

A lot of materials and photos are on display, and the images of large screen are seen.
