Ureshino Onsen is a hot spring resort located in Ureshino city in the southwest part of Saga Prefecture.
It is located about 15 km west of Takeo hot spring resort.

The onsen town is in a narrow basin formed by Shiota River.
There are about 50 ryokans and hotels in the town.

This onsen was opened in the ancient times.
A guide book of Saga area published in the 710s describes that this hot spring cures various diseases.

This hot spring is known as "water producing beautiful skin".

In fact, the water of this hot spring contains sodium and hydrogen carbonate.
So, your skin will get smooth after bathing.

"Yudofu" is a popular Japanese dish that tofu is boiled in water.

When Ureshino's water of hot spring is used for Yudofu, tofu becomes melty in the water.
The melty Yudofu is a speciality of Ureshino Onsen and is called Onsen Yudofu (温泉湯豆腐).

There is a public bathhouse Siebold no Yu (シーボルトの湯).

The Western-style building was built by a German designer in 1924, but it was destroyed by strong earthquake in 2005.
After that, it was rebuilt by the same design and opened in 2010.

Siebold (1796-1866) was a German doctor and visited Japan from 1823 to 1830.
He introduced the advanced Western medicine to Japan, and introduced various information of Japan under isolation policy to Europe.

It is said that he visited Ureshino Onsen.

By JR limited expresss of JR Sasebo Line, about 60 to 70 minutes from Hakata to Takeo-onsen.
By route bus, about 30 minutes from the station.

Or, by JR limited expresss of JR Nagasaki Line, about 60 to 70 minutes from Hakata to Hizen-Kashima.
By route bus, about 30 minutes from the station.
