Seiryuji is a Buddhist temple, and is located about 7 km east of JR Aomori station.
It is at the foot of low hill in the suburbs of Aomori city.
This temple is new, and it was opened as a branch temple of Koyasan in 1984.
(Koyasan is very popular sacred place in Japanese Buddhism opened in the 9th century in Wakayama prefecture.)
The most important statue in this temple is the Great Buddha.
It is called as Showa Daibutsu (昭和大仏), and the height is 21.35 meters.
This is the Japan's highest Daibutsu as seated statue made of bronze.
So it is higher than Daibutsu statues of Nara and Kamakura.
